Is there a certification or norm or standard or protocol or #RFC or something else describing a light web based on a subset of #html where css and javascript would be excluded ?Sites following this could be viewed by classical web browser and by "light" browser (knowing only this subset)#smolnet

@wakame Nowadays, hardware resources of our devices are essentially used to manage bloated websites. If we can incite actors to return to a lighter web or #smolweb, small devices (old pc, old smartphones, retro-machines, small boards...) could be usable.Promoting a standard, also compatible with actual browsers, would be virtuous.#Gemini and #gopher are not reasonable options, but something with forms, tables, colours and all that html 3.2 proposes is.@pulkomandy

In conclusion of discussions here, XHTML basic 1.0 seems to be a very good candidate to certify websites as members of #smolweb https://www.w3.org/TR/2000/REC-xhtml-basic-20001219/- a subset of XHTML for various screen size with low capabilities- optional css- xml format (easy to parse)- no useless tags- no script- no inline styleAre there any volunteers to create an informal group to promote a #smolweb based on compatibility with a simple HTML format (certainly based on xhtml basic 1.0).RT is welcome 🔄

I've tried to build guidelines for a #smolwebIt is less a technical reference, but more a general reflexion to help authors interested about this concept to write accessible and portable web pages.https://smolweb.org/guidelines.html

#smolweb news :As mentioned on the homepage of smolweb.org, this site gives one definition and some guidelines to build a better and unbloated web.But there are many solutions to reach this goal. Aral Balkan give a different definition of the #SmallWeb, and it is interesting have a look.In addition, he proposes several tools, such as Kitten to build this new web.You can follow him here @aral Read => http://smolweb.org/posts/2023-10-09-an-other-smallweb-definition.html

#smolweb news :#Wiby a search engine for the smolwebWhile looking for smolweb resources, I met Wiby! This search engine indexes websites compatible with old browsers. You will find simple HTML and non-commercial sites, and, if you have a smolwebsite, you can submit it to their database.A very good resource for smolweb surfers!https://smolweb.org/posts/2023-10-16-wiby-a-search-engine-for-the-smolweb.htmlhttps://wiby.me/

@victorheryOui, c'est un peu pareil avec le HTML.Un coup d'inspecteur sur une page pour comprendre comment c'est fait dans le source.Parfois c'est intéressant. @bortzmeyer

I'm looking for a new way to publish posts on a blog or micro-blog.Generally, you connect to your site (WordPress or other cms) and manage your posts. You need an internet connection for that.Other solution is to use a static site generator, but you need some tools on your machine and it's probably not possible to publish a post from your phone. My idea is to use a calendar to write your articles. Possible on a PC or a phone, online or offline (sync on reconnect).1/2

An event would be a post with a title, a content (description), a pub date (planed in future if you want), a status (draft or not)...Your site would subscribe to a caldav server or an ICS URL to get the content and generate your HTML publication (pages, index, rss feed...)Is it a good idea ?2/2

By experience, I can say that small webshops using Google Analytics to analyze their visitors behaviors may lose selling.Google also uses these data to recommend other shops using Google AdWords to these visitors for the same products. So, do not use Google Analytics, Matomo is a very good alternative.https://matomo.org/
