@stux Now I much better understand why those countries are called "gulf" countries .Apart from that: Nice summary. In simple words, so many poeple should be able to understand what's going on.Hope that helps to show who is winning with that policy, and - more important - who not.

@Nonilex Only problem: the US - i.e. their current leaders - do not think in this kind of historical and political context any more.They see the world as a kind of self service store, where others have to pay when they want to go shopping.New argument can only be power.Equal, better bigger, united power. Which is not necessarily military.

@Nonilex Side effect:he is pushing science and industry into the middle ages.The turn to renewables is unstoppable, as simply more efficient / cheaper. At least, I hope so. You remember: "It's the economy, stupid!"Of course there is a general delay by the policy in the US, but I do not think this will come to a halt.And when the US will wake up again, the rest of the world has had years of progress .

More violence on the streets, more cases at the courts.Decisions of judges against the executive are not respected.Not difficult to see what probably will happen next.

@Nonilex @anneapplebaum Anne is right in her analisys.But - as she mentions - because of Donald Dumb living in his own world, where rules are only given by his own "moral", a normal political discussion is useless.Only help is massive resistance from within the US citizens and democrats; plus coordinated reactions from europe, i. e. tariffs, limits to US social networks (like already in discussion), and clear statements. Only understandable language for him is power 💪

@Nonilex I am no fan of Macron.But in this speach he is deginitely saying the right things.Europe is much stronger in industry, the US much stronger in the big (anti)social network and IT companies.So the solution to react to the pressure is more than easy. Although not comfortable...

@Nonilex duIf ICE is working on a base given only by internal guide lines, with untrained and improper so called "agents", it must be possible to show a counterreaction on a base of existing laws. Why isn' that done, immediately, and consequently?? If ot, everyone knows what is to happen next. Just a continuation of ignoring of civil rights, further brute force, further injustice.
