it really did my head in when i fully absorbed the fact that something called 'private browsing' allows your history to be collected by your ISP, your employer/school if it's their machine, tech companies, the cops, and the NSA. it only keeps your history 'private' from the people you have irl relationships with

I simultaneously:- feel like a huge failure- acknowledge that the amount of work i was expected to do was completely unreasonableI guess all my years of USian schooling and exposure to capitalist propaganda means that if someone assigns me a lot of work, i will feel shame at not completing it no matter how unreasonable it is to expect me to perform that work. that's interesting

Thinking about this interview I heard with a 15 year old who was raised on an anarchist eco commune. She was taught about trees, plants, soil types, and general ecology her whole life.If she learned something well enough to be considered an expert in it (for example, tree care), she was treated like an expert by everyone in the commune, even if she was only twelve at the time.
