An example of why creators should own their content:I started publishing #categorytheoryillustrated in platform called GitBooks. Now, the said platform is defunct, (or they pivoted to a new thing), and so there is some very early version of my book that is just locked there without a chance for me to edit it. https://boris-marinov.gitbooks.io/category-theory-illustrated/content/Good thing I inserted a URL to the version hosted on Github, which is the current platform that I'm using. The problem with getting my own domain name and hosting is one which also @cellfourteen talked about once: namely who's gonna pay the bills after I die. I want a way for it to be available online forever, so I don't know a way to achieve that.Except for this little thing called BOOKS...
