@dave I did enjoy to see an explanation in the third thread that I could mesh with standard computer science concepts.

@lightweight I even got a bloody cold call to tell me that I would be getting an e-mail. Told them no to...They must be getting desperate.

@feld This is why the plan to put h2 into natural gas pipelines as a way to preserve that infrastructure is just plain silly. Let alone the interoperability issue of appliances expecting methane but getting hydrogen instead. Can't do a flag day on a whole town!

@webmink 5 Year terms were very much a mistake in the UK I feel.I don't mind the idea of 4 year terms but 5 is just too long.

@ParadeGrotesque - What a Labour government in NZ could achieve when cut off from its focus groups.

@vik I ended up with some Yubikeys from swag and such and really love those for this.Bitwarden is doing a passkey in software also, but I don't use that as it isn't really a second factor at this point.

@simontsui Note RedHat scores this as a 3.9 for libssh.I don't see how this is a 9.8, and neither do others:Solar Designer at https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/12/26/4 says:Incidentally, NIST NVD's current CVSS 3.1 score for OpenSSH'sCVE-2023-51385 is a ridiculous 9.8. Quite usual for CVSS and NVD.

@gabriel I had to buy a ChromeBook for a student off to high school. It really seemed off that they started at 4GB. Thankfully I found the 8GB model for not much more...

@strypey The bigger issue is the third party groups, and I am worried how to deal with that. How do you let Forest and Bird get offshore donations for bird of the year but prohibit those bloody "crime and ram raids are all in the news" YouTube ads (which were entirely offshore funded)?

The Taxpayers Union's Auckland Ratepayers' Alliance (See https://www.taxpayers.org.nz/ratepayers_alliance_launch ) continues to prey on the public's poor grasp of how expensive long term public, sea and vandalism resistant infrastructure is.Now perhaps if councils could employ engineering staff in house, but the TPU scolds councils for paying professional salaries over 100k...Auckland Council spends $263k replacing four sets of stairs https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/527975/auckland-council-spends-263k-replacing-four-sets-of-stairs#nzpol
