@grammargirl I seem to have watched enough shows from the UK to have adopted the use of the plural verb with a group noun “Indiana have had a tough time” vs. “Indiana has had a tough time”. In UK there is some nuance, but in American English is the former always incorrect?

@grammargirl I really hope it’s Walloon. I know a handful of Belgians, but they all speak French or Flemish. The Walloonians are grossly underrepresented.

@grammargirl The construction of “10-year old” drives me nuts. The numeric is the variable. The idiom is “year old”. It should be “10 year-old” at the very least. Am I completely wrong? When did we adopt this convention? “Old” is doing very little work and I don’t know of another language that uses it.

@grammargirl as an adendum, it isn’t “blond-haired boy” or even “blond haired-boy” (which I quite like). I am perplexed.

@grammargirl I can’t think of a circumstance where “each other” couldn’t be replaced by “one another”. Although, intuitively, I know there’s a difference.

@grammargirl Based on the evidence and assuming you had the same word as me, I have no idea how you made the leap from 1 to 2.

@futurebird I watched a similar SUV park recently. The spot was so tight that the wife had to get out before the parking and the husband had to crawl out the back. No regard for the cars they parked between obviously.
