#Mastodon feature request: you know how you can opt in to a confirmation dialog before you boost a post or you publish media without #AltText?I think it would be WONDERFUL if there could be a prompt to ask: "are you sure you want to boost this?" when you're about to boost a post that has a picture without #AltText...Because the "Explore" page makes me a little bit angry when I see EVERY SINGLE DAY the same accounts posting screenshots that do not contain any alt text descriptions. Not cool 😒

Yesterday I was singing the praises of #Jellyfin with someone in my life and they went: "Sounds great. It's a pity it cannot be connected to Google Drive or iCloud". Fedi friends, this sentence sent actual shivers down my spine. I have no poker face and I may have even blurted out "ew why?" Then I said: "you know that the cloud is basically someone else's computer, right?"So yes, I'm a certified Fediverse person now (in case there were any doubts).And I just installed Jellyfin YAY 🥳

Unpopular opinion: the silver lining in server outages is that they pull the curtain & reveal some hard truths about who is really behind some services we use... especially stuff we think are alternatives to Big Tech (spoiler: maybe they aren't).Case in point: last year's #Microsoft outage took out #DuckDuckGo (https://mashable.com/article/microsoft-outage-affects-bing-copilot-duckduckgo-chatgpt).Today's Amazon's AWS outage took out #Signal in some areas: https://mastodon.world/@Mer__edith/115405436746725236Oh my, is this time to convince my family & friends to move to Matrix? 🥲

Watching a presentation about social media and engagement strategies at Tech Week Bologna. The speaker - a really charismatic man - just said: « Think about content you’ll publish, without boosting it with an ad. Dear Fediverse, thank you for being a safe haven from AI slop.This morning, I checked out Pinterest for the first time in forever and saw an image purporting to be a LEGO set that was obviously AI generated - yuck!Then on Reddit's popular page there was a video compilation of people saving children from terrible falls = AI slop.YouTube's homepage: a short video showing a child and her dog covered in mud = AI slop.What was I thinking? There is something truly magical about witnessing (and helping) your child learn to read and write. *Especially* in the age of AI.Meanwhile, many humans only a decade older than my child already default to using LLM systems for any form of writing. Looking back at 2025 I can't help but feel an immense sense of gratitude towards the fediverse. I found so many friends and lovely communities on here. I feel part of a rebel alliance, working towards the goal of creating a better internet - and resisting broligarchs.This year I made a stock photo for the fediverse and an introductory video. An important PSA for people who are active on #Bluesky and who, upon hearing that the ICE account was officially verified, are saying: "I will just block it." Blocking on Bluesky is NOT PRIVATE: it's very easy to see who is blocking any account by visiting sites that list that information.I took a screenshot from https://clearsky.app, listing all the accounts that are blocking ICE (I pixelated avatars and usernames for privacy purposes).The safest bet is to mute (that info is private) 😫

The French press devoted many articles to it (meanwhile: crickets about the Fediverse).Before I go full steam ahead grabbing domain names and creating a web site that shows the weaknesses of W / suggests to check out the Fediverse instead, I want to put it to you: should I do it?
