Opinion on universal antinatalism/efilism/anti-life values. I am strongly considering it while basically still wanting to support the creation of new lifeforms. Infact I’m freinds with a scientist anting to create unnatural sentient lifeforms who just thinks life is /so beautiful/ (it makes more sense in context). The cognitive dissonance is hell.

What’s people’s opinions on universal antinatalism/efilism/anti-life? I am strongly considering it while basically still wanting to support the creation of new life. The cognitive dissonance is hell.

@Eah It’s not about misanthropy it’s about mercy. Is it unfair to bring sentient life into being? Is it justified to risk that something may live an unhappy life?

@Eah Indeed. But I fear the fate of life on Earth is worse than I can possibly imagine. When a conscious animal gets hacked to pieces is this an acceptable planet at all?

I try to keep an open mind, but the idea that being consciously torn apart by hyenas is part of some harmonious cycle of life, or “cosmic dance” seems like a sick joke. It smacks of religious superstition; that there is a greater purpose to everything, but there isn’t. It’s sacrifice to an imagined god.

By all means prove me wrong, explain why it’s important, I need it.

@Eah It’s within reason to at least sterilise as many conscious creatures as possible. We could save billions of lives from ending that way at the very least.

@Eah We could sterilise the planet at least as much as humanly possible.
