       @stephanlivera I'm also thinking to try and set up my own instance, just personal use at first but will maybe open it up later. Will hopefully find some time at the weekend. Also considering Pleroma as an alternative, it's one of a number of other fediverse options that is interoperable with Mastodon.

       @htimsxela @stephanlivera I don't know a great deal other than it's little more lightweight to run. I also read that it's more geared towards advanced users but I'm not sure in what respects exactly, the only example given was that you can use markdown in posts. I'd recommend going over to the pleroma site and clicking through to some if the instances listed to get a feel for the UI 🙏

       @btc I'm on such a different page politically to most people I know that I can literally feel the cringe spreading across my face when they bring up anything political. I really have to be in the right mood to tackle that BS, I often just try and divert the conversation elsewhere instead 🤷‍♂️
