@Reinderdijkhuis you can set the theme under settings->theme. If that is still too little, I can sort of instruct you how to setup a custom theme.Anyway, enjoy!

Didn't have internet today, so spend it on finally finishing up vectorizing all the glyphs for my currently used comic font. Now I still need to kern it... I've also sort of given up on keeping the regular version in sync with the bolded one, I think I need to be more experienced with fonts before I can really handle that.Worse, while this font is excellent on A4 comics, I am actually working on an A6 one, and that needs a slightly different metrics :D#font #fontforge

Oh, Blender 3's out. We'd been wondering if Krita 5 would be first or they. Guess that's solved.https://www.blender.org/download/releases/3-0/

... I was wondering 'is there anything good in this release? Because I'm only seeing cycles stuff, which, well, yeah, good, but not exactly major version number worthy... turns out they managed to get geometry nodes in.Geometry nodes are definitely a major-version number thing. Also asset browser. But geometry nodes are like, really BIG.(Allows for procedural modeling, which right now has been the primary domain of the package Houdini, and very rare outside of that)

@irina It's because they're morons who shouldn't be allowed to own a dog, because that kind of shit can really mess up the dog's psyche as well.

@eishiya The dockers do store their size internally, but for some reason they don't get restored correctly, and we suspect bugs in qMdiArea. We want to replace it and the dockers with KDAB's solution, problem is just finding the time to make the swap.

@eishiya you don't need to change tools to edit the selection, it's just under document.selection() (see https://scripting.krita.org/lessons/selections). Note that there's currently no way to select stuff that isn't a rectangle though. For smaller scripts I use the scripter. Need for plugin structure has to do with code architecture.

@eishiya if literally only switching the tools is what you want, you should just invoke actions. https://scripting.krita.org/lessons/actions there's actions to switch between tools. the action for the magic wand is named "KisToolSelectContiguous" and "KritaShape/KisToolBrush" for the switching to the freehand brush tool.

Today I got called (indirectly) 'foss-pilled' because I am working on text-layout by someone who claims that on-canvas text tools are not something that should be prioritized if Krita wants to be better for comic artists.Usually I ignore these things and go on with my day, but this one's... Memorable.

Trying to report a bug to inkscape, get stuck in gitlab complaining it cannot verify which it says it's their own fault, and refreshing doesn't work...

So, I've been working on #svg text layout for #Krita, and decided to write a massive blog post about my experience:https://wolthera.info/2022/10/svg-text-layout-for-krita/

@Anna That's weird, it's supposed to work, there's even a commit from over a year ago that fixes this: https://invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/commit/ad4beb82e0463d279e88dc13b697237513e1e28dI can try to check tomorrow whether it is a bug that returned with a vengeance or something.

@Anna oh, sharaf mentioneed this in the irc:"I don't have an active mastodon account, but can you please tell them that the file is present in <home>/Android/data/org.krita/files/Documents/krita-backup folder -- which should be accessible using either OEM's file manager or AOSP's file manager"guess we'll need to add that to the manual...

@kalez Yes, that is correct. Some servers allow looking at the local feed without you being part of them, but most don't because their users feel uncomfortable with it.

This is pretty interesting: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/fep-5624-per-object-reply-control-policies/2666Basically it's a proposed extension to #activityPub to indicate the original post is not expecting replies, which is very useful from a harassment and spam handling perspective.Afaik, peertube already implements something like 'commentsEnabled', which does a similar thing.(I'd boost @weex 's post for this, but it seems he forgot to post this particular proposal)

@irina I'm mostly noticing the big brands doing this, so I suspect it's largely an attempt to stay ahead of potential future sugar-tax-esque laws...

My text-in-shape branch got merged into #krita . 🥳 It cannot handle every edge case, but it's fast enough and handles the base cases.I will now need to start working on docs and release notes for Krita 5.2, fix bugs in text, and wait for feedback on my huge amount of text-tool notes so I can work on the text tool proper for 5.3
