A notice on our local "Nextdoor" site warned of Bigfoot howling at night. Warned everyone to keep their critters in at night. I mentioned it was mountain lion mating season and warned everyone to keep their critters in at night.

Of course, the thread continues with nasty comments toward those questioning her Bigfoot accounts, which are growing by the minute. More people are now mentioning their interactions with Bigfoot. I want to mention what meth addiction can do to people, but I still have to live here. (What it is like to live in a 90%+ MAGA town.)

We are genetically predisposed to be born into the environment we happened to be born into which is what makes us decide which religion we choose? That make no sense at all to me. We don't choose whether we are born into a Muslim society or a Christian society. We don't choose whether our parents are religious or not.

I do recognize that a person is more likely to adopt the religion most prominent is their society as well as that of their family. Genetics can play a role in whether or not someone continues to accept and embrace that same religion or any at all. Left/right brain primarily in control? The extent to which the upper cortex functions in problem-solving. The ability to use critical thinking processes.

Genetic predisposition is just one small part of why a person thinks critically or refuses to. There are also societal influences. While one may think critically in one area, societal influences may cause a person not to think critically about religion. Many scientists also adopt a religion.

@ErikUden I don't rent out space in my house to those who need a home to live in because of talk like this. If individual homeowners cannot make their mortgage or pay their utilities because someone feels entitled to free rent and utilities, why would they risk what they have worked so hard to purchase?
