It's also not lost on me that I have the privilege of time to spare for some extra running around, as I look for shopping alternatives. Loblaws doesn't just mean groceries, after all: I still need to source sundries like soap, shampoo, household cleaners, garbage bags, all the stuff that's so convenient to pick up while getting the groceries at the supermarket. Is it all futile? No, I don't think so. There are smaller grocers that might leverage this thing and grow. More competition? Who knows.

@Wolven It's like they want to pass irrational, moon bat laws... just because they can.

@Doll Some sort of bio-hazardous material or substance could be added to the balloons, who knows. It is scary. Absolutely demented, and scary.

@stux It is about information, but for many news companies... it's about entertainment and sensationalism, and it always was.The New York Post (a tabloid) has an article quoting the ex-husband of the First Lady (Jill Biden). Her ex-husband is criticizing her support of her current husband, the president... this is nonsense, but very typical.

@futurebird I get the sense that the U.S. is sort of adrift right now and many people aren't sure what they want in leadership. Which I guess makes a "strong man" stepping out of the shadows look even more appealing to certain people.

@Hyolobrika Trivia: It's a somewhat common surname in New Brunswick (and Quebec). Not sure if there are still a lot of Bourgeois left in the old country, or not. It'd be an interesting surname to have. Well, I guess no weirder than King or Farmer.

@futurebird I've heard that cats will meow to try to draw out a predator? Just checking to make sure the room's safe? Not sure how that works though.I've also heard that they'll meow a lot for a few days if they move into a new home, but I haven't had a cat do that yet.

@futurebird I always felt like a misplaced Boomer.I had an older father, and Boomer half-siblings. Then Dad married my mother, a member of The Silent Generation (born 1936). I'm the youngest in the family, a fresh Gen X. Part of me always wanted to be a hippie and embrace that Woodstock counter-culture, though.
