If you think queer liberation is only about us queers, you are not seeing the whole picture. The goal of freedom to express ourselves, free from judgement and threats, applies to all human beings. This is not only about the freedom of who to fuck, not fuck or have agency over our bodies and identities, it is about liberating society from the unspoken restrictions and norms that govern all our lives, queer or not. We humans created this, we can tear it down again.

I need some input on this. I’ve been thinking about the reclaiming of slurs and I have my own stance on it but I know I’m not existing in a vacuum so I‘d really appreciate some queers sharing their thoughts about reclaiming slurs in general or in specifics, any non-hostile perspective is welcome. :boost_requested:

The rationale behind my thoughts is, on a cultural level, accepting a slur as a slur is giving in to the oppressor‘s narrative. Owning it means taking this power away from them. Turning it into something society can fear instead of ridicule. Somehow, I‘d rather say „Careful, this <slur> will gladly break your face into pieces“ then giving them the satisfaction of being hurt.

It’s ok if you’re hetero. But I must ask you not to be hetero around my children. I mean, I’m all for tolerance towards heteros. I even think they shouldn’t be jailed for being hetero and also be able to marry. Still, I have my concerns, if they should raise children they might pressure them onto being hetero. Look, being hetero is not a choice, I get that. I’m just a little concerned about those hetero activists that are canceling traditional gays for their hetero-critical concerns.

As a ‚natural‘ parent who doesn’t believe in such manmade ideologies like binary gender, monosexuality or monogamy, I an deeply concerned about what’s happening in our schools. In sports class children are being segregated by their genitals, can u imagine? An adult teacher shouldn’t be interested in my child‘s genitals. Also in their school books, they feature almost exclusively cisgender hetero monogamous families, as if a human‘s ‚natural‘ state doesn’t even exist anymore.

Look. I’m not against people identifying themselves in a binary way that coincides with their genitals at birth. I just wish, when they talk about it, they wouldn’t always be so particular about it. It’s as if they would try to tell everyone who’s not interested about what’s in their pants. Especially when cisgender adults do this virtue signalling around children. I don’t say it’s always grooming but why else would they want to do that? Just asking questions here.
