       @killyourfm btw: @Sammy8806 the admin of our instance (layer8.space) is running a patreon to fund the operation. Currently it's at 8 patrons. That could be better. Because we should not forget, that all this amazing infrastructure is run by volunteers who are frequently paying for it out of their own pockets.So here is my appeal to everyone: check if you can support your local instance and do so (if you can afford it).

       @killyourfm I think the change in lingo happened, because we wanted to emphasize the responsibility of the social media companies to moderate their platform. Media companies need to check what content they are publishing. Network operators are just providing infrastructure.By this logic each instance is social media and a social network but Mastodon and the fediverse are just a social network.
