Godammit. It’s Trans Day of Visibility of all days and the first thing I see on my FB timeline is a cartoon a cis someone I really like(d?) shared depicting a dinosaur in women’s clothes featuring the word “tr*nny”. Ya girl did a thing yesterday, marched in our city’s #Pride parade as her authentic self for all to see, and even made the 10 o’clock news!It was an incredible feeling just strutting my stuff while being cheered on and surrounded by so much love and support when too often it’s hate that gets the spotlight — all for simply living my truth, a truth I’m still relatively new to.Queer is family. @anniemo71 Straight family is good and welcome, but queer family is something truly special. We love each other fiercely, partly because we have a common history of pain and oppression. That’s much of what #Pride celebrations are about, being ourselves and surviving in spite of that.

Allow me to elaborate why cis people are exhausting…We have to come out to THEM. We have to constantly explain ourselves to them, explain transness to them. Often in a one-on-one convo.It’s THEIR society, and we must limbo thru its hoops for acceptance. For our own rights and safety.
