🧵 1. Ursal is a left-wing political Brazilian instance. It was created in 2020 like most instances here, by someone who was disappointed with X, living under Bolsonaro's government and trying to find a safe space: @DanielaAbade , the one who is writing this post now. I had a very popular Twitter account, I had almost 60 thousand followers, but I don't use my account for almost two years now. The number might have decline, so. The account is locked and I don't check it anymore. My migration, because of this popularity brought some people here. Since day one I'm very strict w/ moderation. Guess we are the first instance to make Media description mandatory - we explain to the users how to do it several times, but if after that the user choose not to describe, will be banned.

2. You are not a left-winger if you choose to exclude someone. But since Ursal was created I personally started to suffer harassment by some old Brazilian users of Mastodon "the famous girl on Twitter is bringing famous accounts to Mastodon, they are polluting our environment". I ignored the harassment, I was threatened by the government of my own country, I won't be intimidate by people with a grudge against popularity (that I never looked for, I'm always fighting for equality and justice, and that gave me popularity). I believed in the Fediverse and still believe in it. I was advertising Mastodon everywhere I could, praising Brazilian instances, sharing emojis and being kind to everyone. Then some Brazilians admins decided they want to see CW in every political post of Ursal.

3. THEY DECIDED HOW I SHOULD RUN MY INSTANCE. CW wasn't mandatory in their instance, btw. But in their narrow mind it should be here, because we talked a lot about politics. We are a political instance. These admins didn't even lived in Brazil, they weren't living under the terror of a far-right government. I was. We have to talk about politics, not hide it. Hiding politics is what brought far-right to where they are. And we ask for CW in posts with violence, with triggering topics like suicide and so on. But we had to expose what far-right was doing in Brazil. You don't like the topic, silence it. Block the account, block the instance if it's a personal matter, but don't ask the admin to run the instance like you want it. These admins never had a single report against Ursal

4. I don't ask other admins how to run their instances, I hoped I had the same right here on Fediverse. So I kept as a rule the optional use of CW in politics. The harass over Ursal users increased when I enforced this: we are a political instance and we will keep politics. I Dm the admins of those instances when things escalated, twice I had to block users who didn't silence Ursal, who didn't report Ursal, who didn't block anyone, just spent the day mouthing against the instance or blatant lying (saying I demand users to not use CW in any subject). I asked these admins to talk, I pleaded them to find a middle ground. They said they didn't see any harassment happening. And that was it.

5. One morning I woke up with an user sending me tones of DMs with prints. She (a queer woman with disabilities) was chatting w/ another woman from another Brazilian instance. Not about politics, frugal daily things. A third party, from colorid.es got in the chat and started to harass the women and to curse me, because I have an instance who doesn't use CW. It was an epic and violent rant. After this rant the person deleted the interactions and blocked Ursal. The other woman on the chat was so traumatized by this that left Fediverse saying it wasn't a safe space for black women. I couldn't do much. I was about to write to colorid.es admin when I heard Mastodon.art admin wrote a post about fediblocking Ursal listing transphobia, homophobia, racism and a bunch of absurdities.

6. It was my Kafkanian day. I worked for the campaign of the first trans Congresswoman in Brazil. She is my personal friend. I lead a circle of protection around the venue where Judith Butler did a speech in São Paulo and was in imminent danger of being attacked by wackos and Nazis. I used my body to defend her. And a person who doesn't know me and my history was making these accusations. I went to the about of mastodon.art and found that the admin was someone called "curator". I wrote to the email of the site explaining the above. I used the pronoun "him" to describe the person who assaulted the two women (and me, btw), because he used a male username, Ardydo. Substantives have gender in Portuguese. Ardido is a masculine name.

7. I waited for the answer of Mastodon.art admin by mail, because I sent an email. She answered in a public post that I couldn't answer because I was blocked by her. She enforced the accusations of transphobia because I used a masculine pronoun to refer to ardydo as "he" and the right pronoun was "she" or "they". Ardydo never talked to me, never presented himself, never reported any account of Ursal, I didn't know who this person was. And they/she blocked my instance and any opportunity to find out. Then she said I used "he" to talked with her, and I did, my mistake. I didn't know who curator was and I assumed that this kind of Attack against women would come from men. I sent another email explaining what happened and telling I was sorry for the mistake.

8. She answered my email, again in a public post that I couldn't answer. Now she added to my list of crimes that I was a kiwifarmer. She decided to investigate my timeline and found out I answered a post of a guy who posted a link of a site with some gadget created by a known kiwifarmer. To discover that the site was created by this kiwi farmer, you had to click in the site, scroll down the entire page, click in the about of the site, find who the creator was and google him. She went to all this effort to "frame" me as a kiwifarmer but couldn't google my name to check who I was. I was the first Brazilian to report kiwifarmers, btw. I have this thread in the timeline of my deceased Twitter account.

9. After that I gave up. I just made an effort to find all Ardydo's accounts in every social media and personally block this person. Someone with this amount of hate to some other who never ever interacted is a dangerous human being. I did it to be safe. The day after I heard Ardydo did a post in all her/them social medias saying that was giving up her/their account and name because I was harassing her/them by blocking the accounts. HARASSING BY BLOCKING. Yeap. After that I knew Ursal was inserted in Oliphant block list in the same level of nazi instances (I fight Nazis). Some weeks ago I heard that there is a new moderator group IFTAS that put Ursal in their block list, again, in the same level of nazi instances.None of the guys in these moderation block lists reached me

"I'm the stronger one, I have a bigger instance I speak English and no one will bother to check an instance of Brazilian-portuguese speakers"I used to write to admins of instances that blocked Ursal, to clear things up. Now I'm just tired. That's why I'm writing this. We are a good instance of people who believe in the Fediverse and think that we can talk to improve this world.Hope you believe in us, hope you check everything in this instance and see we are just good people. @futurebird Pica is the equivalent of "Dick" in Brazilian Portuguese, but the use is not limited to a reference of the masculine member. Since we are a very chauvinist country, "Pica" is also an adjective to praise someone very important:"This guy is Pica".TMI for your little Pica, but in a weird way, Pica is synonym of "very important" too.
