I am working on my author #AI Statement. What I have so far:Artificial Intelligence Statement - As a deafblind, autistic, arthritic, and potentially dyslexic author I do use spell check, grammar check, the online dictionary, and occasionally dictation and speech in Scrivener on my computer. I should be using a screenreader and braille display, if I could retain the complicated directions. There are markets that consider me less than human for needing these #Disability #Accommodations.

If a market does not clarify exactly what they consider Artificial Intelligence, then I will continue to submit stories. After all, even using a computer, and sending email are forms of artificial intelligence.I seriously doubt those markets against #ArtificialIntelligence want to go back to reading hand written and snail mailed stories. #AI

Another interesting fact. Most market #AI statements are unclear, and written just above, or below their diversity statement. So, when a #Disabled #Author reads both statements, they contradict each other. What computer #AssistiveTechnologies are allowed?Spell Check?Grammar Check?Thesaurus?Dictionary?Research?Dictation?Screen Reader?

I should be using a #screenreader and #BrailleDisplay, if I could retain the complicated directions.#Screenreaders:I have used VoiceOver (unsuccessfully),Over a decade ago attempted to use JAWS.Over a decade ago, I also unsuccessfully attempted to use Dragon dictation. It offered to uninstall Windows!#AccessibilityIn the past, I have used:Microsoft,Word,LibreOffice, For research, I currently use:Duck, Duck, Go,(pre 2023) Bing,(pre 2023) Google2 of 3

Completed #AI Statement:Personally, I do not have a problem with people using assistive technology to transcribe and share the word trains in their brains. Some #AssistiveTechnology that I do not use include switches, and other personalized and specialized equipment. Use of these tools should not be held against #authors as these authors often have to work three or four times as hard while using these tools as able bodied people do without them.#Accessibility3 of 3
