@ceperez well banks are based on the assumption that not everybody withdraws their assets on the same day. That clearly is their weak spot.

@garymarcus yes, I agree to this. I witnessed some reactions of people about #ChatGPT that were completely out-of-the-world. Not from #AI experts, but from people who are making decisions about software development and who are seeking the so-called wow-effect. Their admiration for #LLMs and their total absence of critical thinking is something that is scaring me. This was one of the motivations I signed the letter without giving much thought to who might have which interest.

@TedUnderwood you are referring to #RLHF (reinforcement learning by human feedback) as a way of correcting transformer output by human authors. But this technique also covers learning preferences from humans and this aspect hasn’t found much attention in the debate of #LLMs, but may rather be determining for ChatGPT’s success. What is your opinion about this? https://proceedings.neurips.cc//paper_files/paper/2022/hash/b1efde53be364a73914f58805a001731-Abstract-Conference.html

@HannahCelsius @bookmarchitect @StephZihms @gpollara @FMarquardtGroup @the_heruman @academicchatter but posters are not necessarily a great experience either. Would be better to a have web conference where people can ask questions (and the poster online).

@simon imho the term “spatial representation” sounds much better than “embeddings”. For example, spatial representations are used to study voting problems https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spatial_model_of_voting

@simon @benjedwards very interesting. A power struggle between scientists and entrepreneurs with the scientists winning? This is unusual since scientists and technologists rarely sit in those boards.
