@strypey Labour has missed an opportunity to make Aotearoa more equitable, but it's politics101 to try to invade the middle ground, unfortunately. Moreover, I suspect that the latest Green policy on Maori land will hand the election to the right wing. I can see where they're coming from, but the backlash from centrist voters will be strong. #nzpol

In New Zealand we have the most right wing government ever. It will reduce taxes for the rich, lower incomes for the poor, & dial down our response to climate change in favour of continuing resource exploitation, a housing price explosion, & profits. We replaced a fine Prime Minister, who saved 1000s of lives during COVID, with one who calls the poor “bottom feeders”. @lightweight Our EV policy is doubly bonkers given that we aren't likely to meet our 2050 net C neutral target. Taxpayers are going to squeal when we spend billions to purchase O/S C credits, and #Aotearoa's reputation will suffer, sabotaging our exports. #nzpol #climatechange

A tax "expert" on @radioNZ said that it's more "efficient" to unfairly and regressively tax the poor through GST and so we should do more of it, and most importantly capital gains should be tax free. 🤑 😬 #nzpol

@lightweight #Regional councils are elected officials. They look after local concerns. It is absolutely appalling that central government is doing away with them. It takes us closer to an authoritarian system that is insensitive to concerns about government actions that often favour money making for a select few over quality of life for the majority of people. #nzpol
