@lowqualityfacts I do think the explanation of what an instance is and how to pick one could be clearer for people signing up for the first time. I tried making a mastadon account and when I go up to deciding on an instance it felt like a lot of information and I just closed the browser and gave up.

@futurebird i did learn recently, although I'm not aware of all the details so if anyone wants to add more feel free, that libertarians used to basically just be anarchists, or at least a subset of anarchists. Then you had this more right leaning group come along and they purposely named themselves libertarians because of the anarchist group, but their ideals were very much in opposition. I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but I imagine it caused a lot of confusion for people who called themselves libertarians to have two groups calling themselves libertarians and doling out a lot of conflicting information. It wouldn't be hard to image a lot of people getting pulled in both directions.

@futurebird I answered fine arts because I think that's the closest. I'd spend most of my time taking literature classes, learning languages, linguistics, etc.

I've been struggling to just write the ending of my novel since I figured out how I wanted it to end. It was like my brain decided we were done with it. But today I managed to get two and a half pages written. If I can just do that plus a little bit more then I can have my novel done tomorrow. Then I just need to do one more round of edits and start prepping to query. #amwriting #writing

Well, I didn't finish my novel today. It's going to take just a little bit more to get the ending done, but I did hit over my 500 words for the day so not bad. #writing #amwriting

@futurebird Ooh, I think we might have been doing the same thing at different places. I was at a political discussion being run my one of the organizations near me yesterday and they had a table set up for people to make these vote reminder postcards pop out by writing on them with marker and highlighters. I think I did a few dozen. They were for black voters aged 18-21 (i think?) in PA.

@futurebird I haven't checked it in a while, but I did notice that my usual ad blocker on my web browser blocked the ads on tubi before. You might be able to avoid the ads if you access it through a brower with an ad blocker if they didn't "fix" that.
