@Gina Luckily I'm an EU citizen. I did get the pop up, but I read online that EU laws don't permit this kind of change. It has to be accepted by an Irish committy first, before whatsapp can share their data with Facebook.

@Linux4Everyone depend. If your surroundings almost force you to go on Facebook then I'm inclined to say social media are worse. For me, though, it's pretty easy to get off social media and much harder to keep off Windows

@libreoffice I don't use the tabbed interface, because I had issues with it when it switched to dark mode. Libre office is still not great when switching theme while it's open.

@barefootstache POI's is the one thing that OSM does much worse than google maps in my experience. I'm curious how Google has so much POI information. I wouldn't say it's always accurate, but it's more up to date than OSM

@potato_lisper @barefootstache Google also adds a lot of tags, like the type of food in a restaurant, type of service and facilities. This is often not done in OSM. Google is also much more detailed in this

@potato_lisper @barefootstache it's possible to add and there are probably restaurants that are better tagged than in Google maps, but there is only so much volunteers are willing to do. It's not very fun to add tons of tags to a restaurant, unless better tooling/automation is built around it. It's also very hard to keep up with new restaurants and opening hours without a web crawler.

@BrodieOnLinux I'm not opposed to donation requests, but they have to be done in a way that's actually effective, otherwise it's not worth the annoyance. An example of a method that does not seem effective is the messages in Libre office after every update. You learn to click them away as soon as possible. Or worse, you're too lazy to click them away, leaving you with reduced screen space and a worse experience

@enthusiast101 @BrodieOnLinux it only needs to run a 800p screen. So it doesn't need as much raw specs as a console

@BrodieOnLinux I look at the source code if it's a small github project or some bash script. Everything that is packaged for my distro I trust.

@pid_eins I think it's a good take one sudo. I think there were some vulnerabilities found in sudo recently, so it's good to look at other ways to do it.I wonder what the adoption of this tool is gonna be. Just very pragmatically, the name run0 is harder to type than sudo. So you would have to make a shell alias. Would it be possible for a distro to completely replace sudo with this and create an alias by default? Maybe it would need to get a compatibility mode for it to replace sudo

@BrodieOnLinux I think flatpak solves part of this problem. Developers are encouraged to provide flatpak packages directly to the user, making sure they can provide the best experience. But by sandboxing applications distro's can limit the security risk of this direct exposure.I think in the end, distro's will be only a way to provide a minimal secure sandboxing environment which is heavily audited. As much applications as possible will be sandboxed and need less strict audits.

@BrodieOnLinux if a malware can access your recall data it can probably also record your screen. The only difference is that it doesn't need as much time to collect data
