To me yelling and marching also very often seems like feel good activism. It would work if information wasn't controlled by the capital. Whatever you put out there they will use it against you. I am happy to be convinced of the opposite. There are other ways of action though.Hopefully more effective and you and your old ass are very welcome there.@Radical_EgoCom @csgraves @themarkup

Is there somewhere a collection of cool little macros people have written in one of the many #lisp flavors like #scheme #clojure #commonlisp and so on? Even after using lisp for many years I have maybe programmed 5 macros and feel a bit like I am still riding the bicycle with stabilizers or living among the fremen of Arakis and being unable to command one of the Shai-Hulud.

What plants thrive in dark conditions? I have access to a backyard that wasn't used in many years and I would like to plant something that bears fruit (something to eat). The place is at the backside of the house and is facing north.#gardening

@publicvoit Boot with a Linux from a USB try chroot and then revert the firmware update? It is complicated but just shooting from the hip here ... .

Why is it that if I copy something from #emacs to the browser characters like "ü" are messed up but if I copy from okular it isn't?

I had one professor who was one of the first to write his thesis on a computer and then the computer crashed and his whole thesis was gone and he had to dictate it all to his secretary again. After that he never touched a computer again. Over the years I got more and more sympathetic to that decision, but I guess I am just to invested at this.

@futurebird You know baba ganoush? Other things I like to do is cut in slices and put them in batter then fry them in the pan. Also good to just put slices in the oven and combine them with paprika, zuccini to make anti pasti. Slices on the bbq is also something I like. Just the things on top of my head.

@futurebird You might be interested in Geoffrey West "Scale: the universal laws of growth, innovation, sustainability, and the pace of life in organisms, cities, economies, and companies." In his research he observes that citties don't perform as well in scaling as biological organisms. There is no clear conclusion as of why that is but well everybody who lived in a city has some ideas I figure.

@ArneBab @divVerent @HeliosPi @mike805 @DGI The regulation is getting precisely cut because we have the transformation of wealth into power which leads to changes to the regulations that then lead to more money for the central players which can then in turn be transformed into more power.I am not sure if there is a solution to the problem but ultimately all systems of government have that problem that people who do well in the system change it to suit them better which spells the end to said system.Maybe systems of government should have a life time assigned to them after which a phase of rejuvenation / rebirth is build in but I am just fantasizing at this point

@futurebird One thing that is often forgotten is that most ads is just taking away the ad space from competitors.Everybody knows Coca-Cola but would love to maybe try some different soda, therefore Coca-Cola buys the ad-space away from competitors so they never appear on peoples radar.
