I was just informed by Reddit that I *must* wear femboy socks because I run Arch.

@calculsoberic I'm TheSameCat, a software engineer that thinks all languages and operating systems are equally valid. I get a lot of hate for that. Lol

@calculsoberic I work with a guy who still thinks "real programmers use C." It reminds me of that old saying, "If the only tool you have is a hammer..."

@calculsoberic Yes. Also a lot of things that were true 30-40 years ago that aren't now. Like that C is closer to the bare metal. https://queue.acm.org/detail.cfm?id=3212479

@calculsoberic @hotheadhacker Arch is my daily driver. If you run into any problems let me know. Came from Ubuntu myself. It's funny because Arch users see Ubuntu as the Windows of the Linux world tbh.Honestly, I expect Windows 11 is MS slowly moving away from their legacy code. Hard to get enterprise to change. I can see the attempt to move without breaking too much compatibility at once. Hard line to walk there.

@calculsoberic @hotheadhacker Their choices to add ads to APT, to use proprietary Snaps, etc., Have been a huge turn off to a lot of people. I'm not a free software purist myself (hell, I run Nvidia) but snaps are just worse than flatpak, and canonical has doubled down. I say use what works, but the reputation doesn't surprise me.

@dhalucario @calculsoberic @hotheadhacker RPM fusion is what *makes* RHEL distros, especially after the MP4 licensing fiasco.

@calculsoberic @dhalucario @hotheadhacker Yeah, you can totally move around snap and use flatpak, it was just a turn off that apt-get install firefox was quietly installing the snap, stuff like that.

@calculsoberic @dhalucario @hotheadhacker NP! Linux is beautiful in it's diversity of options, and there really are some cool ones right now.
