Did you ever stop and think how Google Docs, today, not when it launched, basically offers _nothing_ that you can't just run on your own website? Especially when you're a company? Why are we still using gdocs at all? Other than you personally not actually caring about data security and integrity, which you really should start caring about, and "massively discounted market pushes" on Google's end, which the law should really start caring about.

Open Source needs a license that requires open source authors be paid a lump sum equivalent to whatever they pay their software engineers for having done the work that underpins their product(s) or service(s). Want to use open source in further open source? Go for it. Want to make money off of open source? Pay your dues.

I need an app that's a keylogger except it also a MIDI device and turns key presses into MIDI events, with a hotkey to bypass or reengage.... Because #Cubase, #StudioOne, #ableton they all manage to not even remotely understand what a virtual keyboard should be.FL Studio's is probably the best one, but FL Studio crashes like a fickle fennec on MacOS. And Reaper's is decent but as much as I want to love Reaper, it's windows NT levels of UI in too many places.

So Novation decided to pull several plugins I own, and instead of going "they're now free" they went "THEY CAN NEVER BE ACTIVATED AGAIN" and this is the kind of bullshit that should be illegal.If I bought your product, either you issue me a refund, you keep your fucking activation servers alive forever, or you release a "final" version that's free (like Kilohearts did with their Kilohearts One synt).There is no middle ground here. And you should *always* go that last route: "It's now free".

Another reason to not say anything when you pick up an honest to goodness "phone call" these days: autodialers that will record your voice, profile it and turn it into an AI model, so they know which voice they need to match when they spoof a number to convince your mom to send $5000 in walmart gift cards.

Only to discover it needed 12 additional dependencies installed. Which he installed. Then compiled Python. Then went back to Node. Which wanted GCC 10. "Okay, let me compile THAT, then", Pomax said. The worst thing is that ALL OF THIS WORKS, WHY DO *I* HAVE TO DO THIS?Surely, 2025 will be the year of Linux on the desktop.

Seriously, if I CAN compile all this bullshit on Ubuntu 16, what the hell is wrong with just paying some folks to keep the PPA's up to date, even if the OS isn't. You don't want me to use Ubuntu 16? Canadian butter is not great for making croissants. Unlike European butter, which is so soft at room temperature that you can press your finger all the way down through it without even trying, Canadian butter stays firm, which means that the traditional "chilling the dough" with Canadian butter just freezing the butter, causing it to break and shatter while you're working the dough instead of spreading out and giving you that nice lamination.And I keep forgetting that.
