@ErikUden Make sure your ftp client uses binary mode. I think the default is ASCII.But the problem isn't restricted to FTP. I see it with some email-based systems too. And not just umlauts - I see the à character inserted for no apparent reason.

@ErikUden Come to think of it, there isn't even an old border station on that route, unlike (for example) the A76/A4 crossing near Aachen.

@lanodan @foone @hj @evamik Exactly the point. You mash the keyboard when setting it up and get something like bjuhsfip[Just make sure that you record it safely so you can spell it for the security bot when they ask.

@futurebird My website is hosted by atspace.comShared hosting, basic plan. It costs me about 165 EUR every 3 years, including the .org domain and domain privacy protection.Free https from LetsEncryptUnlimited disk space and trafficLots of server-side stuff to choose from, like wordpress, mediawiki etc. if that's what you want. My site is mostly static but I run a few server-side things in Perl, PHP and Python. I upload it using the reverse mirror feature of lftp. No SSH access.

@davidrevoy From now on, whenever anyone says LLM I'm going to think "large lorikeet model". It seems appropriate, somehow. 😃

@clacke #Samsung Galaxy A54, fully up-to-dateI'm pretty sure I managed to turn off autocorrect not long after I got the phone. I got really annoyed one day because I was typing something in German but it changed some of the words to the nearest English word. Plus, it had a habit of "correcting" the last word of the message when I hit send.I'm using Unexpected Keyboard now (available on from F-Droid).#Samsung Galaxy A54, fully up-to-date

@clacke UnexpectedKeyboard allows you to switch layouts by swiping the spacebar.Punctuation characters are on letter keys using a diagonal swipe. Takes a bit of getting used to, but even I (with my fat fingers) can manage it.
