Week two of school and a kid already wants to change their pronouns. The first thing I asked is 'have you told your parents?' Now I need to fill out a bunch of paperwork and have a bunch of meetings. I assure you, no-one is teaching your kids to be trans or trying to keep secrets from parents. The amount of extra work is enormous and I have enough to do.

Just in case you're listening to the rhetoric around trans kids and think the haters might have a point, lemme be clear- no-one is doing gender surgery on kids- the first thing a teacher does is try to involve the parents- the wait list for GRS in AB is something like 8 years anyway. We WANT parents involved. We just need to make sure the kids are safe first.

One of the things that these "parents rights" numpties don't seem to get is that teachers also don't have rights. We have responsibilities. Including the responsibility to act in the best interest of the child. Your child not learning about gay or trans people existing is not in their best interest.
