       Hey, friends. I'm moving to the Seattle area, and I would appreciate any leads on roommate situations or rental opportunities. I have two dogs, a 35lb terrier mix and a 50lb Finnish spitz/golden retriever mix, and we're comfortable with studio, one bedroom, backyard cottage, garage apartment, and other oddball home options. Thanks for any help you're able to give, even if it's just keeping an eye or ear out for me.

       Discord is getting in on the "AI" trend with testing of new features utilizing user data scraping, potentially for training a large language model. To opt out of this, go to the Privacy & Safety section of your Settings. From there, toggle off both "Use data to improve Discord" and "Use data to customize my Discord experience."

       Mastodon has some norms that are worth being aware of.Accessibility is a core value here, & descriptions/alt text on your photos/videos are important for including blind, neurodivergent, & slow connection folks. Many won't boost posts that lack them.Hashtags are key for connecting people, as there's no algorithm. You can follow them to see tagged posts in your Home feed.PascalCase (capitalizing each word) makes hashtags legible to screen readers for blind users & easier for all to read.1/

       A good way to think about alt text is that you're telling people what's important to you about the image.Why did you include it?Which elements get the point or joke across?That should be the focus.However, background is often overlooked. If you only describe foreground, it can lack context that helps people understand it or mentally picture it. Example: "Two people hugging," vs "Two people hugging in an airport terminal."Also, text should ideally be transcribed, not just labeled "text."3/3
