@davew On Twitter lots of people would "like" posts (including mine ) but not retweet them. Or vice versa. Which I never understood. If you literally like it, you share it with your followers, surely. But they don't. And ditto, if they think something is worth sharing, why would they not "like" it? Very strange and very common.

@fitheach There's also a thing now where many high end restaurants, all year round, do either a 7 course-no choice- "tasting menu". Or else only 3 mains, of which at least one if not all will be something unusual. So there's a good chance some of your party won't be able to find anything at all that they want to eat.And if there's a category or 2 you don't want to eat, you may well be screwed.

@fitheach When people invite you they have a responsibility to try and provide food their guests will eat. We often invite guests respectively vegan, lactose intolerant, with medical needs and fussy about some food category or other. So we cook accordingly. It isn't rocket science. (I don't like rocket).

@fitheach I'll eat some rabbit food-I'm getting better at it. But *rocket*.No. It has all the horrible aspects of raw leaves-bitter, insubstantial, annoying. But none of the pleasure. No flavour, no texture, no crunch. It purely exists to give the self-righteous something to virtue wave.

@fitheach Not so much that, but rather that I prefer to think of it as a pointless and unpleasant way of misusing the Earth's surface.

@chris Hmm. Depends who you ask. They are in Africa, on the Mediterranean and were colonised by the Arabs. There are still indigenous Berbers there.

@killyourfm Interesting. I'm thinking of moving to an iPhone in the Summer. I'd loved the One Plus line of Androids until recently. But each successive update has made them more Google and less independent. Features I loved vanishing and crap I don't want being imposed. Stupid things, like the One Plus used to tell me how far I'd walked. Now it just tells me how many "steps" I've taken. A totally useless measurement that is based on a health fad long since discredited.

@gmcgath There's an irony. FOSS and related proponents want their stuff to be mainstream. But hate it when it becomes the mainstream. This is not "socialist". That's nonsense. It is, however often individualist.

@killyourfm Yes. Android's step counter tell us nothing of value. The x thousand steps thing was debunked long ago because it's only raised heart rate, i e. brisk walking, that is of significantly benefit.

@science_quotes I'm not a research scientist, my degree was psychology and Philosophy. I know that the opposite of scepticism is dogma.

@grammargirl That never worked for me. Those kinds of rules never seem to stick in my head when they're needed. But simplifying does.(Times by 10 then take the number away; so 7x9 is "7x10 then take a 7 off").

@fsf I hope this will be easily searchable from the usual search engines since for most people this will be a one-off activity; say to repurpose some kit.
