@fox Seems to be working just as good as just DistroBox integration, but made for Windows. You should try it.

You will find no news reports about this. Cloudflare is offline because the United States government is adding their own little spin into Cloudflare. The great firewall of the United States Government is soon at hand.Later today, Cloudflare will release a statement. It will say that there were network migration issues and other general issues. That their entire infrastructure was somehow affected. Do not believe it.I warned everybody about this almost a year ago. I've been trying to find an alternative. I know of no alternative to Cloudflare. #Cloudflare #CDN #DomainProxy #DigitalSovereignty

@fox No, there are cheaper and better domain registers. In fact, Cloudflare is on the pricey side, and offers fewer features for their domains themselves. However, what Cloudflare does offer that no one else does is their domain proxy security and DNS services, starting with a free tear.

@fox Generally speaking, yes, but like with all domain registers, it really depends on what your domain extension is. That said, whenever I've ever looked into Cloudflare for domain registration, they always outlined themselves as more costly.

When you first install Windows 10 or Windows 11, when Windows ask where you are β€” Always claim you're in Iceland. Why?You will be given more options, including the option to uninstall both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.#Iceland #Windows #Microsoft

Iceland is also one of the few select countries that will continue to receive extended Windows 10 Updates. No online account, or special sign up required. You may not receive new features, but at least you will still receive critical security updates. Nationally, I think you should try Linux (Fedora KDE Plasma), but at least this way you can ease into making a switch, as opposed to being forced to do so right away.#Iceland #Windows #Microsoft #Fedora #Linux

14-year-old CPU from 2012. Not the minimum gen 8 CPU. Not even gen 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, or v2 CPU. This is an old school gen 1 CPU from 2012, an Intel Xeon E5-1660, using the long discontinued Sandy Bridge microarchitecture. The PC is using 64GB of old school DDR-3 RAM. It is running off of old SATA SSD drives. The only "modern" hardware on this old PC is the GPU, an AMD Rx6400 from 2022 (nearly 4-year-old) and the 2.5 GB nic card.Yet, it is running Windows 11 just fine (see photo). I have tested this on Windows 11 Home, Professional, Enterprise, and Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC. If you had any doubts on whether Microsoft's hardware requirements for Windows 11 were artificial or not. Put those doubts aside. Windows 11's only goal was to create a lot of e-waste, so hardware manufacturers could boost sales.I suggest people try Linux (Fedora KDE Plasma). If you must run Windows, try Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC (updates until 2032). #Windows #Windows11 #Microsoft #Linux #Hardware

I suspect my DELL Precision T3610 motherboard has failed.I was playing a simple A.I. game (nothing graphically intensive), and my computer powered off, and all the fans went to maximum speed and stayed continuously running. I unplug my PC, plugged it back in and all fans immediately all kick on at maximum speed without me ever turning on the power. I pulled all the hardware (graphics card, network card) and pulled the drives too. This left only the CPU and RAM. When plugging the system back, the power button and the number 1 and 3 kept flashing. This made me think I had a memory (RAM) issue, and so I pulled all the RAM.Putting any RAM stick alone in DIMM1 clears the flashing power button along with the flashing 1 and 3. The same if I load DIMM1 and DIMM2. But the system still runs all the fans at maximum speed, without ever turning on the system. Furthermore, if I load any RAM into other DIMMs, the flashing light return. #Dell #Precision #Hardware #Motherboard #T3610

I think I'm going to use this opportunity to escape Dell's ecosystem. After all, finding parts for a Dell Precision T3610 is going to become problematic after a while. My next motherboard should be compatible with the current hardware I have. An Intel Xeon E5-2673 v2 with 128 GB DDR-3 ECC Ram (12800R). This would allow me to also use a standard power supply, which is something I should strongly consider since DELL's power supply was discontinued, and you can only pick up used.Any recommendations for other motherboards? Let me know.#Dell #Hardware #Intel

Well, here's an interesting twist.Since my Dell T3610 system failed tonight, I thought I could use my Dell T3600 tonight. I had ordered a replacement motherboard for it years ago, but never got around to installing it because I had other things going on. The issue was none of the USB ports front and back were working.Well, after installing the new motherboard, once again, much to my surprise, all the USB ports weren't working. As it turns out, it wasn't the motherboard all this time, rather the case. The moment I unplugged the cable for the USB 3.0 port, everything started working again. So, technically, I have two working Dell T3600 motherboards. πŸ˜‚That said, my plan is still not to restore the Dell T3610, but rather get a standard motherboard with a standard power supply, and then swap all my hardware in there. I've had enough of Dell's little closed ecosystem with its constant revolving door of parts. πŸ™„#Dell #Hardware

YOU are not being dramatic if this Thanksgiving Weekend you decide to get up and walk out the door.Family can be both a blessing and curse. And as much as people may attempt to gaslight you, in all likelihood, you're not the issue or the problem. #Thanksgiving #Holiday #Family

I've been trying to avoid needing a larger hard drive, but I think I am failing in that regard. The problem is, most large capacity drives, while still being reasonably priced at the moment, are still mechanical drives. SSD drives (particularly SATA) still balloon in price if you're looking for something over 2 TB.I'm someone who has a list of things he doesn't like paying much for, and hard drives are one of those things. lol

Can you physically remove the TMP chip on some systems?Yes, but only on a select few. Most systems have it integrated within another chip (serving a dual purpose). But there are a few out there where it is separate and removing them either means pulling it (unlikely, and particularly rare) or soldered in off your motherboard (most likely). That said, most systems today, appeared to have the integrated chip (serving a dual purpose), and physically removing your TMP amounts to a pipe dream.

You cannot block Meta's AI without blocking every Firefox user.Meta, knowing full well that there is a conscious and deliberate effort to block artificial intelligence. Decided to teach their AI to use Firefox and loaded up a bunch of thin micro virtual machines. It is not just a user string that people need to worry about. And most people aren't going to block the other popular browser on the internet. That is what Mata is counting on. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Meta #Facebook #Firefox

RE: https://burningboard.net/@Tempest/115591437975100350I am proud of myself for having stayed with NixOS for nearly a year. If they ever stop renaming every setting and command in their configuration file β€” it would make for a long term sustainable distro. But until then, it's just annoying. Impressive, but annoying. The whole point and strength of NixOS is that one file controls everything, and it should be easy to manage. But because they keep changing the name of everything, all the time, for no reason, it's pointless.#NixOS #Linux

       * sigh *I need VirtualBox because for some classic gaming, virt-manager was not the best option for Windows XP or Windows Vista. It worked fair with Windows 7, but even when I finally could get the audio and network working, the display was lacking any reasonable hardware acceleration.VirtualBox just works, and I don't want a debug or tweak another random setting, I just want things to work β€” and I mean now.The problem is, I really wanted to use an immutable distro, because I love the idea of my daily driver being safe and secure. And while I used to be able to run VirtualBox on Fedora Kinoite (Silverblue but with KDE), it seems things have e changed. That brings me back to NixOS, which I have gotten really good at using β€” while wanting to throw it out the window. Because when you become really good with NixOS, you learn that they change things constantly just for the sake of changing things. And that becomes super annoying really quick.

NixOS should be the that super cool operating system, with one master configuration file to rule them all. β€” Really easy once you learn it.But NixOS likes to change things for no reason other than to change things. It gets really annoying really fast.By that, I mean they love to rename their commands all the time. πŸ™„example=true; will become 1example=true only to later be renamed example1=true; and eventually renamed to 1_example=true; and then example_1=true; β€”β€” And this cycle appears to be continuous, for nearly everything, for no apparent reason. Change for the sake of change because somebody in their development team is completely sadistic, and just wants to say, see, we're doing something, is infuriating. 🀦#NixOS #Linux
