       @fsf If the Argus 1 and 2 being abandoned weren't bad enough, the Dobelle AVS was rendered unsupportable because Dr. Dobelle didn't document anything and when he died, the only source of information on how to maintain the system died with him.  It didn't just render the devices inoperable, sometimes it was actually dangerous to the patient.
