What do you guys think, are comprehensive #AccessibilityToolkit solutions that continuously scan and fix #A11Y errors like #AccessiBE, Access Alchemy, and Make-Sense, the way of the future [despite the often sub par results] simply because of the cost savings and ease of use?https://accessibe.comhttps://www.levelaccess.com/solutions/software/access-alchemyhttps://mk-sense.comOr do you think that human #accessibility testers are still going to be important to the future of #webdev in a decade. Are the potential benefits of fast fixes and consistent monitoring promising enough for end users to be worth giving them space to grow even if they aren't great right now?#Blind#blindness#disability#DisabilityInUX#wcag#accessable#accessibletechnology #accessibledesign #accessibilitymatters #accessible #webdeveloper#webdevs#uxdesign#UX

@fristi DRM does suck, but if your book is non physical and easily transferable, how else are you supposed to make sure that each copy is only soled to one customer in the first place? And if you can't make sure of that and it starts to have a big impact on sales, how can you afford to distribute, advertise, edit, vet, or pay authors. That said, we really need a universal system for transferring ownership with DRM. At least we have a decent compromise for libraries now through services like overdrive, Hoopla, Libby and 3M.I also think that if something is considered high public interest like an important scientific journal/paper, than it should be stripped of DRM and the publisher should be paid a fixed fee by the government as compensation. But I'm no expert here so I could definitely be missing something obvious.

@libreoffice Hi Libre Office team! I was hoping, as a #blind Mastodon user who makes use of a "screen reader", that you could please start to #captionyourimages as it would be helpful for others like me, as well as some #neurodiverse folks. This would be an easy way to add more #accessibility to your posts and get into the #a11y spirit without much trouble.

@pixelfed Hi there! As a #blind screen reader user, I would really appreciate it if you'd take the time to #captionyourimages as it would really help with #accessibilityAnd it's not just people like me who appreciate them either, it's users on low bandwidth or metered connections who don't want to load the full res picture, those with #autism who sometimes find the context helpful, the huge percentage of those with preexisting visual impairments [#VI] which includes many people over 55 ETC.It doesn't have to be anything incredibly detailed or artfully written, but something is nearly always better than nothing. I believe that their is even an option to automatically #OCR images now which should give you a head start.

A tip for my #blind #VisionImpaired and #VisuallyImpaired peeps, and anyone else who needs #ImageDescriptions / #AltText You can reply to a post without any image description with the "alt4me" hashtag and with post privacy set to public for best results, requesting that the community help out with a description for you! It's awesome! Please don't over use this option, and make sure to thank those who help out!And if any of you awesome fedi folks want to lend a hand with this, please feel free to follow that hashtag! It's super appreciated, especially with the influx of new users who aren't adding it them selves yet. :)#accessibility #A11Y #Disability#FediTips #MastoTips#tips
