@futurebird My grandparent's restaurant (and sometimes apartment) was in a building at 305 6th avenue.There is a creek running underneath the lot. In the 60s (as I recall) the top two floors had to be shaved off because the foundation, compromised by the creek couldn't support them.To this day, this Greenwich Village lot only has a two story building. Last I knew it was a Popeye's.

Working my way through about two dozen tins of Humbrol enamel model paint, stirring them up and adding thinner. Some of these paints are 40 years old, but still usable!

After several months, I'm back building rockets. Actually, painting them.The box art for the three-stage Microsonde has terribly difficult paint scheme no sane person would attempt, so of course I'm trying.The big rocket is the Maxi-Lepus, which was in a video in a post yesterday.

1/ I eat about 1/3rd of a cup of nuts with breakfast. I alternate between walnuts, almonds, and cashews. I buy these in bulk at Costco. I'm used to the pecans being more expensive than the other two. About $10, roughly the same as the almonds and walnuts, but for a smaller bag.

2/ I just got back from Costco, and . . . holy snap.Pecans are now $16 for the same size bag.A US grown crop, so no tariffs.That's . . . almost a third of my weekly grocery budget. It will last me for well over a month, but still. Price shock.
