@arstechnica It was inevitable, no?You can't lay off the bulk of the company after owning it for about a week and not expect to have problems. Everything I read about the direction of Twitter screams to me as mismanagement. They're going to have courses on this in business school.

@stux I worked at a US company that relied on raw material from abroad to operate. The past tariffs essentially put us on an unsustainable path and eventually lead to our location shutting down.

@tomjennings Hah...QEMM brings back memories of fighting with memory managment during the DOS days. And OS/2... UGH. My company was an early adopter. We even tried to roll it out as a desktop OS replacement. Everyone hated it, except the person responsible for deployment.

@tomjennings It was as if Windows 3 diverged and never fully evolved. While it was initially developed with Microsoft and it ran Windows 3.0 applications, it was cludgy and not well polished. Driver support was lacking. Polish did arrive later, but by then it was too late.It did work well as a server OS at the time, but NT 3.51 later blew it out of the water.

@stux This reminds me of two co-workers and how they each wire a rack. 🙂

@foone OMG. We had these printers at work to print temporary plant badges with a barcode on them. All visitors received a printed badge. If memory serves, we used them through a serial connection. No matter how many times we trained anyone who had to use one, they could never remember how to properly replace the ink ribbon. 😐 It was like a reel to reel system, and depending on the ribbon, you could get ink on your hands in the process. You just had to know the proper path.
