I believe Die Antwoord started as a satirical project where they made fun of trashy African people. But now that they're more famous and successful, they can afford to break character and do whatever they like.

@dtluna to be fair to statists, most of them support *representative* democracy, where the logic is that dumb people would vote for smarter people to run things, who may even vote for smarter people on a higher level, etc. It's still a flawed logic, but let's not straw-man them.

@maxmustermann I'll assume you're not being sarcastic. I find their videos to be hard to watch, but yet strangely addictive. They're sort of directed like porn, and yet they are targeted at pre-teens? And someone behind the scenes is actually writing the script for each video, trying to fit their DI-WHY inventions into a random story.

I'm not sure if it's just the current version of #pleroma -- my notifications pop up only when I scroll down near my original post. This way I may not notice my post interaction, which sucks...

I started watching Golden Boy, the anime. The first episode was very entertaining and funny, and most of all, the animation style and execution were top notch! I recommend, it's free to watch on YouTube, with both English dub and English subtitles. #movies #anime

I've got an idea for a zombie story / graphic novel / movie. The protagonist is a person who catches the "zombie" virus and is turning into a zombie. In this universe, zombies are sick conscious people who are in constant excruciating pain unless they eat human flesh. The urge to kill is also really strong, combined with the pain, so certain painkillers only partially work. The zombies who don't take painkillers run around and scream, roll on the ground, try to kill themselves, etc. It's like hell. Those who do take painkillers, are like classic zombies -- dizzy, slow, but still try to kill humans and eat them, because they can't control that urge. Anyway, even though the urge to eat human flesh is very strong, the conscious part of the zombies is still there, and they hate what they do. It's like an addiction that they cannot stop. So imagine the physical and psychological suffering that they have to go through. In this story, we follow the protagonist's journey through this horrific experience, and his attempts to end his suffering somehow. He also has a family that tries to help him, but he's afraid of being around them, because he might end up killing them, so he runs away from them. Doctor's can't help because it's all in his brain. Etc, etc. Just a few random thoughts building up on the premise. #movies #comics

Eminem - VenomIt's so bad and crin-VENOMMMMMMMMMMMMVery unique song. Eminem strikes again, with singing out the consonants of words. Both genius and cringey, but either way, very entertaining.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CdcCD5V-d8#music

I saw Venom last night. I had very low expectations and actually enjoyed it a lot! I liked the overall concept and philosophy of the movie, as I understood it. In one scene, Eddy Brock was listening to an Eckhart Tolle audio book... meditation was also mentioned at one point. This primed me to interpret what was later happening in a quasi-Buddhist manner, as follows: the Symbiote is a metaphor for a toxic ideology, a memeplex that uses human brains as vehicles to live and replicate. Hence, the metaphor of eating human heads. The idea that your thoughts are your identity, and the ability to tell them apart. Hence, Eddy Brock not accepting Venom as his inner voice, and instead using the pronoun "we". Also, different ideologies suit different people, therefore the Symbiote was not compatible with all organisms, but only some. In the movie, the subjects most compatible with the alien were people susceptible to ideology - be it philosophical, religious, or political. In the other organisms, the Symbiote could not survive for long. The alien uses the human body and its mental abilities, as well, to reach its selfish ends, meanwhile making the body dependent, and exhausting its resources. This is what memeplexes do, too. An ideology in the brain of an intelligent and powerful person would make it grow faster, because he will propagate it in a more convincing way. I liked the special effects and the creature designs. The fight between Venom and Riot was fascinating to watch. Even for a PG-13 rated movie, there was plenty of violence and it was well-presented.Acting wise, Venom wasn't bad. Tom Hardy pulled off a likable anti-hero, with his human side very similar to Adam Sandler's characters. Riz Ahmed could have been more charismatic as an evil scientist, but he did the job well-enough. Michelle Williams was very good as the female protagonist, and her character had interesting perks and strengths that made her stand out. Scott Haze was a bit boring as the main thug, I'd prefer that he was a bit more brutal and rough. The thing I didn't like about this movie were the countless plot holes that even a willing imagination could not fill. They were a bit distracting and pulled me out of the movie experience, but the directing was good enough to pull me back in. I can't wait for the Director's Cut version where I hope to see some of the 40 minutes that had been cut from the theatrical release. Tom Hardy shared in an interview that his favorite scenes from the movie were removed from the final cut, so we have yet to see what they will deliver. #movies #venom #memetics

subjective rant belowI hate pop songs with ambiguous lyrics about sex, and people pretend like the song's all cute and witty, because the "artist" is using "your love" instead of "your cunt" or "love/rock/funk" instead of "fuck", etc. Meanwhile, they censor "fuck" and "shit" when the words are used as a figure of speech, or expression of anger/frustration. So what's the moral of the story? It's okay to sing about how horny you are and how bad you wanna fuck someone, as long as you disguise it with low effort. If the artist is "clean" about being "dirty", everyone will have that stupid expression on their face, like "oh, I know what you're doing, how clever of you", and the girls will start dancing and whooping to the song. It wouldn't be so annoying if the singer wasn't singing in a high-pitched voice with a slimy smile on his dumb face. Listening to songs like this is cringey to me, it's like watching a bad, transparent, pick-up artist say what the girl wants to hear in order to get her in bed.#music
