@kzimmermann Hah, good luck!I did not manage within 1.5 years, although know people who become big fans of it...Well, at least I feel it's now almost as convenient as normal trackpad, but mouse still rules :-D

@kzimmermann 6. I was used to 4 before, but later realized that was not enough. The first two are usually reserved by the browser and mail client while the others are for different stuff I'm working on at a particular moment.

@rudolf @marwe A nice example of an app that still remains usable despite not being updated for more than 4 years

I'm about to start playing with self-hosting at a newly acquired #RaspberryPi model 3B. For now I want TT-RSS, Wallabag, Firefox Sync server, some simple Wiki, all for personal (or later for family) usage. Being little experienced yet, I'd prefer some user friendly framework - was reading a lot about #Yunohost recently and fell like it so far. Just wondering about any other similar solution worth considering, before I fall into this rabbit hole?

After a year of lazy mapping, finally all staircases in apartment buildings of my (the slightly larger one) half of my city are mapped. These must be home for 30-40k people.(occasional red/yellow bits on the map are the validator false positives)#OpenStreetMap

@evelyn Used to have one 7yo MTB, cycled mostly in the city. Half year ago decided to try something more city-style and after long doubts bought a small folding 24"-wheeled one. By now I still have not decided which one I like more, winter will provide more feeling of the difference. Currently using both depending on my mood, although it's a little hard (need to swap the lights, bag, keep two lock keys etc.)

@TheFuzzStone @rbkn Not quite valid comparison. If your computer is compromised it may get banned in the network, with the admin guiding you on how to mitigate the situation - you don't call it "getting into your digital life", right?

@TheFuzzStone That's might be true if your decisions did not concern others. Like you can still continue using your computer, but without access to the network. Or free to do whatever you want without putting others under higher risk of getting infected.

@TheFuzzStone I do not think so, that's why I still follow all safety measures. Vaccines do not prevent infection completely, but make it less likely. Being vaccinated you'll also much less likely will end up in a hospital, hence won't spend the resources of the healthcare system that are really needed by other people.

#OneWeekOneDistro week 10 (equator passed): #KolibriOS A lovely minimalistic system, totally independent, written in assembly, with a nice GUI and lots of tiny fancy apps. Boots in a fraction of second, able to connect to the network with my Ethernet card, and built-in browser can even show some simple sites!

@selea I can understand the motivation behind their decision, but pragmatically speaking - this will make little harm to Putin regime and way more to its adversaries and just people disagreeing with all this madness.

@k9mail Many thanks for your work - that's really excellent news! (Although I'm using the beta version and won't get much new after updating to the new stable one.)

@safiuddinkhan I tried it on two old (~2009) laptops, Wifi didn't work at either, Ethernet did at one of them.

@alex Of all your arguments against crypto, only the high use of energy appears reasonable to me. The others are not the issues of the crypto itself but of how people currently use it. Mostly the same arguments can be applied to the cash - to a less extent just because the majority of cash use is legitimate so far (but it seems to change as governments complicate cash operations as you say and people tend to avoid it for legitimate use).

@alex Similarly, if/when more people start using crypto for legitimate purposes, it (not just the technology, but infrastructure, community etc) may evolve in a way making your concerns even less applicable.

Recently a new roundabout was built in my city in place of an unregulated Y-junction. How quickly this change appears on the maps:#OpenStreetMap: 2 weeks (and that's because I was lazy to walk 300 m earlier to see how the traffic is now organized)Yandex Maps (typically best option in Russia): about 4 weeksGoogle, Bing, Apple: still not updated for more than a month

@Revertron Crosswalks are not that important I would say. But if there is a Y-junction instead of roundabout in a car navigator, it would route a driver in a wrong way - thousands of people will notice that.I was expecting such things should be fixed quicker in popular maps.

I've painfully found out that not every VPS hoster featuring an IPv6 /64 range does actually route that /64 prefix to your VPS. That is the answer to my 2-day struggle to understand why my wireguard clients don't have IPv6 connectivity as I expected them to just out of box.Apparently will have to learn more details about IPv6 and understand that NDP proxy thing...

also taking opportunity to thank @stefano whose guide https://it-notes.dragas.net/2023/09/23/make-your-own-vpn-freebsd-wireguard-ipv6-and-ad-blocking-included/ I followed for this Wireguard setup. Your blog is super helpful for my first steps with FreeBSD and motivates a lot to play more with it!
