@James_Silvercat how "open source" is protogen? I see a lot of them but they all fit into the same basic mold. I wouldn't want to use a protogen detail and then get bombarded with a bunch of people saying I used it "wrong". I mean in the long run I wouldn't really care but I'd rather just avoid that

@James_Silvercat eh, the rules are up to the creator. I mean if you deviate too far from the original then you're just basically making something new anyway. It's fine, I can do without it. Maybe I'll even make my own species with its own rules

@James_Silvercat it's just a creation with a few extra bells and whistles. I mean, if you like it enough to want one for yourself then making it within the guidelines of its original creator is actually kind of the fun. But if you like the general idea but want to make your own thing then just make your own thing. No point in keeping the name if you go so far off script people need the name to know that's what you were going for.
