@jessecoynelson I could not speculate on the genesis of your want (or lack thereof) to eulogise a particular person. Usually, I suspect eulogies are meant to highlight certain virtuous attributes. I am sure there are people that would even eulogise the two fellows you mentioned.

My point being: goodness is relative. Look at Barabbas- he was reviled until compared to the man from Galilee. Your broad statement awoke the Spirit within me. @demi26 @radix023 Being raised/taught, consistently, by a particular order does shape faith- small differences matter. Franciscans are usually big on charity and helping the poor. Jesuits are known for their scholarly pursuits. Benedictines are known for their strictness and doctrine. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule. But, that does not mean those differences do not shape your “faith lens”. Necessarily, the diversity of the orders demands a diversity of philosophy amongst them.

@SirRichard Your generalizations destroy the individual nuance that shapes a group. With that logic- we are all on team human. Sure, they do not agree “on every aspect of every topic, but generally they are all on the same team.” Not a very rigorous categorization. So again, please qualify how all these different groups are the “same.”
