@TrevorGoodchild @ins0mniak Speaking of sundry items, we're driving 2 and a half hours to the nearest town with a Sam's Club to stock up on non-perishables. Scrimped and saved - gonna lay in about a year's worth of toiletries, cleaning supplies, clothes and base food-stocks. Bought half a pig and half a beef for the chest freezers from a local rancher already. Prices on all this shit is going to go parabolic a this shit-fest continues.

(These are the sorts of shoes that you can actually have repaired).If you have ANY expenses you can get out of the way right now, do it. ANY. Medical, home maintenance, car repairs......I cannot stress how tight shit is going to get.

@VaxxSabbath @Shadowman311 @PalePimp @rebootbrain I used to have constant problems with ingrown toenails until I figured out how to stretch out my workboots to accomodate my weird duck-feet.This would buy me a few months of relief:1: Get a pair of very aggressive toenail clippers.2: Soak in rubbing alcohol 60 seconds.3: Wash your hands with soapy water. Well. Scrub under your nails.4: Get ready for some pain. 5: AGRESSIVLY chop the nail from center at a 45 degree angle - and by AGRESSIVLY, I mean you will be pulling the nail upwards off the nail bed. Chop until you are about 1/8th of an inch below where the toenail is cutting into the lateral nail fold.6: Your toe nail will now look like a triangle. A bleeding triangle. Wipe with a sterile gauze pad as necessary. 7: Use the blunt flap on the toe nail clippers to lift up the lateral nail fold, and make sure there are no spurs where the toe nail contacts the lateral nail fold. Those notches will be your next ingrown toenail if you leave them.8: Wash with betadine, then slather sterile gauze with triple antibiotic and tape well. 9: Change dressing daily for about 5 days.10: If you get crazy amounts of swelling or pain, time to see a doctor.I am not your doctor, I am just a broke guy who lives in the sticks and can't afford health insurance, so I do my own minor surgery. @judgedread @petra The way I viewed my "dead little home town" in the 1990's and the way I see it now that I've returned a parent are very very divergent.Sure, it looks a LOT like the photo petra posted... in fact, parts of town are nearly identical if you pave the road and add power lines. But I can tell you that my kids won't get knifed by a random nigger, and nobody has to lock their car. Or house.Looking back with weary eyes, the glittering jew lights and "ethnic cuisine" was never worth the price paid. Especially given that the "circuses" started to become unendurable and the bread became unaffordable. Absent those things, the city is just shitty people treating each other rudely (because they will never have to see you ever again), and shit-skins doing shit-skin things.I will forever be a country mouse I suppose.
