@njoseph Mostly seems great, certainly better than facebook, but it's still predominantly funded by advertising. Won't the advertsers want demographics and evidence they are getting return for their money leading to inevitable erosion of privacy?

I'm definitely having some issues with #Plume and I don't know is it's a bug or me not getting something.I like the editor and I'm getting used to using markup. But it's supposed to federate, yeah? But I can't even find my Plume account to follow it and when I follow my tootplanet account from my plume account nothing happens. No notification here and no toots appearing in my stream there.Am I missing something or do I need to go to github and make an issue? (I find github intimidating)

Mountains are possibly the hardest part of the Gimp mapping process I use. They never feel quite right. But here is my first attempt for this map.Feedback appreciated.#FantasyMap

@ebel I honestly didn't. Though I have noticed that I have to explain the Irish border issue to a lot of people who really should know better(I should probably admit to being British myself here in case you didn't realise - though please don't take this as me notallbrit-ing you - I am busy head desking at my countryfolk and wishing I could emigrate right now not being defensive X-D)

Hey Mastopeeps and other fedifriends does anyone know a sight with phonemic inventories for various English dialects worldwide?Preferably of the sort found in this wiki article about RP https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Received_PronunciationIf it also has IPA transcriptions of some common words that would be great.Vaguely considering conlanging a whole post apocalyptic language family descended from English

hmmms at the internetOkay, if I take the sentence "I gave you a book"I is the subject, book is the direct object and you is the indirect objectIf we change that to "I gave a book to you" I thought "to you" was still an indirect object (I mean preposition noun is like the nearest we have to a dative case) but this video is saying it's a "prepositional adverbal phrase"?Are they wrong or can I not grammar as well as I thought?

@cwebber this is one thing that worries me. How are these ghostage stamps obtained? If they have to be purchased what about people who can't afford to pay?

@rin okay these are closely related languages with a common ancestor. One of the ways languages change is words changing meaning and inversion - words changing to mean the opposite of what it originally did. I would guess to be what happened here in one and not the other.
