oh cool it wasn't just LG who fucked up boot logo parsing, I should have looked at x86 UEFI tbhhttps://arstechnica.com/security/2023/12/just-about-every-windows-and-linux-device-vulnerable-to-new-logofail-firmware-attack/

The dilemma which landed me here is that I have one USB cable going to the SIR170, one cable that is just power for the North Star display board which I want consolidated into the SIR170 cable so I can stick an Intel RealSense or something on here.

the increasing number of decompilations warms my soul, if only because it effortlessly demonstrates how much better things would be if copyright/IP law were loosened. also bc it's such a radical rejection of copyright as a whole.

it's called a 4090 bc that's about as high as the VR eye resolution goes before it starts throttling

@krutonium all I vaguely remember is that on Linux broadcast packets can't be sent from 0.0.0.0, have to use a broadcast masked IP like 192.168.0.255 or something like that iirc

Happy medium for ALVR+the new renderer (AKA, what I can get w/o thermal throttling) seems to be 2.0x1920 RealityKit resolution, and 3840 PC+transcoding resolution. So not 40PPD, but 36PPD is pretty respectable! Apple's OS PPD is 40PPD, dunno if that's supersampled though.

Actually scratch that, 1.75x1920 for the RealityKit res, so 31.5PPD. Still, better than 26PPD and I feel like I can probably optimize the rendering a bit higher. Even higher if I ever get eye tracking.

       > testing visionOS 26 RC to make sure everything is fine> boot HL:A, it hangs bc idk it's a known issue in ALVR, it gets fixed by minimizing the window usually > entire PC is hung this time actually, it reboots>

when you think about it it's kinda wild browsers want us to rawdog ads without at least having like, a browser equivalent of Microsoft Defender.Like surely they could add some filters to prevent ads from randomly opening new windows or fullscreening just because you clicked once

woo, my DSi WiFi driver got integrated into BlocksDS.Or at least a heavily modified version of it, since BlocksDS actually finished the job of integrating tasking with lwip and matching dswifi's API

tbh I avoided the Android not-Gameboys for ages but the Ayn Thor actually kinda crosses the threshold where it fixes a lot of the problems I had with Steam Deck (actually pocketable)
