@manfromhuh @johnzajac I used to be a professional dancer. I was a cross country runner, a martial artist, and an aerialist. Now I have to cancel my gym membership because long COVID has me getting weaker and weaker and more fatigued if I train. So yeah. Fuck the antimaskers for destroying my health.

Years ago, when I first heard of Elon Musk, I thought he was some sort of tech-minded philanthropist. Boy, was I ever wrong. The first time I realized he's a right bell-end was when he called the guy rescuing all those boys in a cave a pedophile. I remember he thought he knew better than a bunch of spelunking divers about how to navigate flooded cave systems, and that's also when I realized the guy is waaaaay overconfident in his own abilities. That was invented by people in California who couldn't write."In 1991, when I was a second year university student, I was studying psychology. In one of my classes, the prof handed me back a research essay. It had the mark of A scratched out and a D beside it along with the note to go see the prof. So I went to see him after class and he told me the reason I didn't get the A was because I'd plagiarized but he couldn't prove it. I swore to him the writing was all my own, and that I'd fully documented all my work. He said that no second year student could write that well, so I had to have plagiarized. I didn't know what to do, so I took my paper back and went home. I had a hard time going to his classes after that. Sometimes I'd end up sitting on the floor outside the classroom rather than go inside. The next time I had to write a paper for him, I did all the research. I had all the notes, but when it came time to actually write, I found I couldn't do it. I ended up flunking the course. So writer's block is real. Today is Indigenous Veterans Day, and I want to honour my Inuk/Mi'kmaw father, Chesley Powell. He was a peacekeeper in the 60s and very early 70s. He was exposed to all sorts of awful chemicals (PCBs and Agent Orange) which caused skin issues for him and likely caused the joint issues my sister, her daughter, and I were born with. He was a private with the Black Watch and served in Cyprus, Israel, Jamaica, as well as in Canada during the FLQ Crisis. He wasn't born in Canada but in Newfoundland when it was still a British colony. He ended up as the honour guard for Queen Elizabeth and her mother, probably because he looked very good in uniform. He was a very handsome man in his youth and made for primo arm candy. Fun trivia: at one point, someone had the bright idea to change the way the Black Watch presented arms to the Queen. Previously, they all kneeled on both knees. On the occasion of the ill-thought-out change, they instead knelt on one knee with the other up. Considering they were all in kilts and were in full regimental mode, the Queen saw a lot of soldier junk swinging free. Dad was in the front row and totally flashed the Queen. He was also an athlete and competed in the NATO Games. He was a cross country skier, a distance runner, speed skater, and a sharpshooter. His professional competition sport was biathlon. He once told me that he was the one who came up with the skating style of cross country skiing, but I don't know about that. But who knows? @crazyeddie @graue @Gargron not long ago, someone on my friends list was going through serious shit. Their health was bad, they'd lost their job, and were trying desperately to find raise enough to keep them from living on the street. Some asshole told them to go kill themself. I haven't heard from the friend since, and worry they did. I wish there'd been a way to get that comment deleted immediately, before the friend had a chance to see it. I reported the account and blocked the person who posted it, but I seriously worry that they go around to mutual aid posts telling people to kill themselves. If you don't see a problem with posts like this remaining up, I don't know what else to say.

@futurebird I was raised to believe I was in the end times. I grew up in an apocalyptic cult. Though I left, my parents are still in it. I told them I'm fighting to protect the land, and they tell me I'm wasting my time because everything that's happening now is God's plan, and after Armageddon, it'll all be rebuilt into Paradise.

My laptop with its amazing sticker collection is dead. I was told my machine is "vintage." I bought it for school in 2018. This is gonna be expensive. And I guess those stickers are toast now, too.
