@VGM @jens books have footnotes. Also a text is more than giving facts, it is about convincing a reader. Hyperlinks are interesting but they also take the reader away from the discourse he should follow. How many people look up footnotes? Why should you want to follow all these hyperlinks. Better reading? Certainly not. It is impossible to read 10.000 words on the net of one text in one sitting. Your reading on a screen is sloppy and slow. Just like your writing

@iron_bug @jens @VGM We have a different idea about what reading is. Try to read Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire on screen. I can hardly believe that there are technical documents of 400.000 words. We are talking about different kinds of information, and a different way of reading. ‘Scanning’ technical information is different from reading a historical essay where facts are mixed with opinions and a writer tries to convince you.
