@todayilearned 72km2? Clicking on the original Japanese link thought me that the island is 180 by 450 meters. Which is 8,1 hectare - > 10.000 times smaller then 72km2. (5000 people om 72km2 is not dense at all)

@rms never in 60 years on planet Earth i could imagine to read such article. About a Western "alie" performing mass atrocities on civilian 'enemies' they have homegrown. I've visited the 'promised land' shortly before Christmas and after the murder of Rabin. The endless nature and inability to resolve the religious conflicts, fears and inhumane treatment of the oppressed people struck me. That it would lead to war crimes and mass killings of civilians on this scale I did not foresee. Outrageous.

@rms same here with regards to the treatment of peavefull climate protests by Extinction Rebellion. Safety and security implications are grossly exacuturated allowing police to apply much harder measutes than necessary. @rms we, the Dutch, have been there and done that. It's called the #toeslagenAffaire in which anonymus public servants trew 30.000 families under the bus with hughe fines causing job loss, divorce and children taken from the families, because their government ruled that an exotic name or double passport made them suspicious of fraude. @rms or even more obvious: why not have her use her return ticket for 17/2? Answer: because detention has turned to a capitalist revenue opportunity and put outside public services.
