But it does give us a lot of concerning dilemmas. We probably don't *want* to encourage China's less ethical employer practices, but also a big reason the things they make are affordable is because they don't give their workers much pay or benefits. There's many governments we don't want to give funding to, but the only way around that is telling everyone we trade with to evade taxation. Feels like we're either stuck with a lower standard of living or crappier work conditions for someone.

@p @11112011 I'm of the controversial opinion that targeted advertising and analytics aren't bad in theory and could even benefit consumers in some ways, but maybe collecting mic audio and camera footage and exact gps coordinates is pushing things a *bit* too far.

@p @11112011 @apropos I'm still confused what you mean, are you suggesting we need to stop advertising deals entirely? People still need a way to make their business known and many companies are all too happy to take their money to give exposure. Or do you want to completely stop any form of ad tracking/analytics? The only thing I can think of for that is an outright ban.

Pizza Tower for example has been in development for around 4 or more years but videos and demos around it were released semi-frequently. It kept enough of a following and space in the back of people's minds that when it released, there was enough momentum to push it towards wide notoriety and success. Not to mention the crowdfunding it got.This all falls apart if the game you're peddling isn't actually good though.
