So many of these #SiliconValley money guys know nothing about the #tech world yet are at least partially responsible for picking the winners and losers. Do they rely on others to explain it to them or do they just base their investments off of vibes?Some examples:1. @ct_bergstrom yeah he replied to it in November of last year with “that is my goal” but deleted it after the pushback that it was a version of a quote that a neo-Nazi pedophile said on a radio broadcast. He either is so broken that he forgot or did it on purpose! Pick your poison with those options.

@ericbrignac @Popehat @mmasnick @pluralistic the rule of goats is essentially if someone does or says something, does it really matter if it is with irony or for the lols? Even if you fuck goats as a joke, you’re still a goat fucker. So it’s about public persona and perhaps playing a character vs. the “real” person and if in the end it makes a difference.

I recalled this piece in the LA Times by @Popehat where he talks about the legal application of the rule of goats, where drawing the line between public and private personas can be tricky and have had mixed results in the courts. So this is really difficult to admit publicly, but I was in a deep depression for years. I am just now trying to dig myself out of that hole. From mental illness to physical illness, there was a long period of time I didn’t leave my bed. Admitting this is hard bc I feel so ashamed. 2/

I let my driver’s license lapse bc I was working from home and then not working at all. I found out that I have to take both the written and driving tests again and despite getting my first license at 17, I am nervous. Trying to get my life back in order… it is hard. 3/

I finally confided in a friend and she was reassuring bc LIFE IS HARD. We always think everyone else has it together and often that’s not the case. I may be an extreme case, but it is true and I think more people should be open about their struggles. 4/
