       @Darkayne @freemo My issue with #qoto is all the emphasis on not censoring "unpopular" ideas. Lots of ideas are unpopular because they're discredited, and many discredited ideas are also flypaper for bigots - Holocaust denial, race science, flat-earthism, etc. Debating these topics isn't going to bring forth any new insights, it just gives plausible deniability to bigots so they can spread their ideology in a way that appears civil if you don't know which dog whistles to listen for.

       @freemo @Darkayne Where? What I see on the Qoto About page is that y'all don't allow "hate speech" but also won't "censor unpopular ideas". In my experience (and the experience of a lot of marginalized people), places with policies like these tend to give a pass to people who want to "debate" things like race science as long as they don't say any slurs, while people who point out bigotry are often banned for being "uncivil".

       @zleap if they have a medical condition that keeps their body from producing enough testosterone, they might be prescribed it so they can have a normal puberty. And kids who have puberty way earlier than normal are given puberty blockers. These are the exact same drugs that are prescribed to trans people, but they're way less controversial when cis people take them.

       @zleap @theweaselking The thing is, the Bible probably doesn't say anything about homosexuality at all. The "clobber passages" that conservatives cite are pretty ambiguous in the original languages. The word "homosexuality" and the concept of sexual orientation as we understand it now didn't even exist when these texts were written.

       @stux One thing that I think we don't talk about nearly enough is how fucking stupid Hitler  and the Nazis were. They thought they could fight two wars at the same time and win. They thought they could build a big granite city in the middle of a swamp (look up New Germania.) They designed all sorts of ridiculous "super weapons" that mostly killed the Nazis who used them. And Hitler in his private life was  *incredibly* cringe.
