@h_tejas @sanjayuvacha Nationalism has aupressed the idea of social justice in the name of Hindutva. It started with Laloo Prasad Yadav. Not one stood up for him. Now all dalit and backward leaders are suppressed. Mayawati, Mulayam, Akhilesh all sidelined.

There is no debate on what the govt is doing or should do. We are regressing to an age where the rule of the law will disappear and those accused of any crime will be judged by a mob and taken out on donkeys and their faces blackened.

@dushyant @Prabhatto @sanjayuvacha Hardly "poor" or "ordinary".I come from a family of middle class Gujaratis in Kolkata who made full use govt subsidies... cooking gas, electricity, railways, .. Not only that we resided in an expensive " Gujju" area as permanent tenants paying an absurdly low rent to our Bengali"landlords" who were more often pooer than their Gujarati/ Marwari tenants. In fact we were paid a hefty sum for vacating by builders who bought over these houses to build apartments.

That backward and dalit leaders were on par with brahmin, kayastha, rajput and bhumihar leaders. Modi regime has wiped out most backward/ dalit leaders. The main purpose of the Modi term has been achieved.. Even if economy is down, privilege of savarnas is ensured. .. . It has ensured savarnas will be affected the least.

@sanjayuvacha Every moment I thank God I got the opportunity to study in JNU. Otherwise I might have landed up like my paternal Gujarati family believing in WhatsApp forwards and finding euphoria in becoming an unpaid foot soldier of a propaganda...forwarding fake messages belittling other communities and religions......imagining this was patriotism. In short... JNU saved me from reveling in idiocy and promoting it.

I told my Bhakt cousin who keeps posting venomous WhatsApp forwards to try reading a book sometime. She got insulted and now to prove she is well read and intelligent, has started forwarding tweets of right wingers from Birdsite Real story. Not a joke.

@sanjayuvacha I had a Muslim friend in college who while visiting her cousins in Pakistan ,made it clear she was an Indian foremost,never regretted her family's choice to stay backand loved India for it's pluralism, diversity and tolerance... Said as a Muslim she is secure and loved and never would be discriminated against in India.... I feel like weeping. I feel like we failed her.
