Lots more people getting on at the next (bigger) station: really young people, old people, people wearing Hong Kong shirts. ✊🏽#NoKings #Pittsburgh

Couple more stops later and this train going downtown to the peaceful protest is quite full - standing room only but not much left of that either. #NoKings #Pittsburgh

Downtown - City County building area is packed! Much bigger turnout than the April 5 HandsOff protests. A lot more younger people too - and some with their little kids. ✊🏽Not great sound at the ¾ way out from the speakers but some very #Pittsburgh chants spread and take hold with entire crowd: Trump. is a. JAGOFF! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽(trumpets and trombones too)#NoKings

Crowd estimate is 10K for the downtown #Pittsburgh #NoKings Protest (see 👆🏽). Nice! There are still two others later today - near Mellon Park and one in the South Hills, Mt Lebo area. There's also the Vigil at my work building this evening. Off to that in a bit#StandUpForSciencehttps://linktr.ee/pgh_for_science

So awesome. One undergrad (here for summer research) mentioned how hopeful this gathering and speakers made her.(Won't post their pics/faces here - but it was super encouraging)#StandUpForScience #Pittsburgh

@kenSwinson wait what? You mean the teacup? Oh in that case here's more on these1/2I do like these a lot and don't use as much. Picked them up on a trip to Kolkata in idk 2010 or 11. Sister took me to a handicraft store. These are essentially traditional clay tea cup (called bhaar or bhaad) shape - but glazed. The bottom/saucer is also a traditional pot but thin low profile. The red is also quite a Bengali traditional hue (for other things, generally).#Indian #Pottery

@kenSwinson 2/2These sort of cups (unglazed) used to be quite common as 'disposable' cups (you'd hurl them to the ground next to the tea shop so they'd break and be returned to the earth...)Sadly paper and plastic took over, but you still see these red clay items and cups and pots. Here's a nice article with good info and pics about these tea cups #Tea #Pottery #India #Chaihttps://www.aljazeera.com/gallery/2016/10/26/kolkatas-age-old-tradition-of-bhar-clay-cups-of-tea/

That storm yesterday - brief but did cause some havoc and downed trees that stopped the light rail trains.Delays continued this morning too - they did get the tracks clear, and I got to see this truck not chugging down the tracks. #Pittsburgh #CommutingTales no #Train !

Picked up this oyster knife/shucker in Osaka walking around my last day at the Kizu fish market area*. Looked great - pointier and sharper than the oxo one I have and it was a little over US$3 - how could I not?!Time to try it out!*https://mastodon.online/@SRDas/115574798091180273

That 👆🏽 oyster knife works great! I was able to shuck these oysters quicker and easier than I remember - and besides the 1st one that cracked a bit - managed to keep the liquor in the others. I do need more practice but this was not a pain! And thanks to fishmonger for the lagniappe I found with the 6 oysters I asked forCW #food raw
