       @stux als je helemaal niets kiest daar krijg je juist toch gewoon alles? Wat wel fijn is, is dat de webapp (ook op mobiel) een vertaler heeft ingebouwd (deepl).

       @stux wat ik nu zie: web toont alle talen, totdat je talen aanvinkt, dan wordt het beperkt tot die talen. Apps (Metatext en van Mastodon zelf) werken precies andersom: tonen maar één taal (de taal van de app) totdat je talen aanvinkt, daar werkt dus het zoals jij beschrijft. Wat ook “misgaat”: op web kun je de taal voor een toot selecteren, de apps gaan er altijd vanuit dat je in de taal van de app toot. Die slippen dan door het filter heen (als iemand bijv. EN toot met een NL app).

       @stux it centralizes the “validation) again, and there already is a fine mechanism (verified website) as you know. Adding more will confuse people what to look for and devaluate both. So I’d tend to go with “no”.        @stux not to mention that they mess with the volumes of these ads - Loud! Way louder then the regular content - which is prohibited for regular television commercials. Though that’s probably the advertisers, not google itself.

       @freemo @stux Came here to say something similar: the risk is actually bigger the other way around.With how federation works, Stux is legally the responsible processor *exporting* data under #gdpr and needs to make an assessment if that’s ok.With regular instances data usage is known and can likely be considered safe and within legal limits. With threads (especially given Meta themselves concluded it’s illegal in EU for now) that’s not something I’d lightly assume.
