       @mattblaze @SteveBellovin @karlauerbach I actually worked as a Shipboard Radio-Electronics Officer in the early 80’s for a few years. The tankers were just getting Inmarsat terminals then although I still had to send and receive messages via CW occasionally. The satellite antenna was a one meter dish that was pointed by servo motors linked to the ship’s gyro. Messages came over a Telex machine. Phone calls were $10/min.

       @Nonilex One way to combat this form of GOP censorship is to promote inexpensive broadband internet connectivity everywhere—especially in rural areas. Biden got the ball rolling but there’s a lot more that can be done. It’s tricky to tell people in rural areas that it’s wasteful to subsidize their internet access since you’re not telling people to what to watch. The trouble with OTA broadcasts is that it’s easy to monopolize. Hard to do that with internet.

       @Nonilex I canceled my Disney+ subscription a couple days ago, so maybe that (and a million other people) got Disney’s attention. I’ll wait and see a while before resubscribing as my wife and I do watch a few shows on Hulu. Ironically, our subscription was part of our cell phone plan and I found there was a better plan that saved me $90/month. Thanks Disney😁
